The Board of Directors of the Airport Authority Cook Islands is looking to employ a Chief Executive
Officer. The Airport Authority is a statutory body established for the purpose of managing airports on
Rarotonga and Aitutaki.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Airport Authority will lead and implement the strategic direction
of the Airport Authority and is responsible for the overall control and management of operations and
business of the Airport Authority. The CEO reports to the Airport Authority Cook Islands Board. The CEO
will continue the process of building capacity in the business through strong leadership and the development
of trusted relationships with staff and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ongoing review and development of the Airport Authority’s Strategic Plan and ensuring key objectives are met
  • Ensuring adherence Civil Aviation Rules and other regulatory requirements to ensure the safety and security requirements of its airports
  • Development of the Rarotonga Airport and Aitutaki Airport infrastructure and facilities to meet ongoing customer demand
  • Monitoring and reporting on performance against the business plan and budget
  • Ongoing review and updating of operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiencies in all divisions

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation and, or Management or similar discipline
  • Proven recent senior management experience in the aviation or similar industry
  • Strong strategic focus with demonstrated achievements in developing and implementing strategy
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills in an environment of change with an emphasis on building capacity within an organization and managing performance levels
  • Financial management and Asset management experience
  • Understanding of the Governance and role of Boards
  • Experience and familiarity with working in the Cook Islands Government system or small island economies
  • Highly developed communications skills and exemplary character
