The Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC) would like to inform the public that in the
interests of safety the parking area at the Avarua Harbour between Raro Fried Chicken and the
CI Canoe Vaka Cargo Shed will be closed to the to the public from Thursday 16 February 2023
at 10am – 7pm. There will be a traditional vaka blessing and launching ceremony for the 9 vaka
from Te Mana O Te Vaka Project and the public are welcome and invited to join. The official
blessing and launching ceremony will be at 4pm.


The vakas launched on Thursday 16 February 2023 from Te Mana O Te Vaka Project will be
available and on display to the public at the grass area opposite the Banana Court, Avarua,
Rarotonga from Friday 17 February 2023 at 10am – 7pm.


The Cook Islands Investment Corporation would like to thank the public in advance for their
cooperation and caution while traditional vaka blessing and launching ceremony takes place. All
care will be taken to ensure the vaka blessing and launching ceremony is completed safely and
with minimum of disruption to traffic, pedestrians and business.
