The Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC) wishes to provide a brief update in relation to the construction of the Farmers Market, which is part of the broader Te Tau Papa o Avarua project.

The Farmers Market is well progressed, and is at about 60% completion, with the foundations, flooring, the information hub walls and market area columns largely complete.

CIIC initially awarded the contract following a tender process for the Farmers Market construction to Katco Limited, a Cook Islands-registered company. This contract was terminated in January 2025.

Katco Limited had subcontracted RVK Contractors Ltd, to undertake aspects of the project. Following Katco’s contract termination, CIIC directly engaged RVK Contractors Ltd as one of several contractors continuing the construction work.

On Wednesday, 5 March, CIIC terminated its contract with RVK Contractors Ltd.

Despite this change, the project timeline and budget remain on track, and construction continues with other contractors engaged by CIIC.

CIIC does not publicly disclose contract-specific details due to confidentiality obligations. CIIC assures the public that necessary steps have been taken to ensure the smooth continuation of the Farmers Market project.

CIIC remains committed to delivering this vital infrastructure for the benefit of local vendors, farmers, and the wider community.
