The Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC) is inviting the public to have their say on the future of the Avarua Wharf through a new Community Ideas Survey, open now until 30 November 2025.
The Avarua Wharf has long been a hub of community life, rich with history, activity and potential. CIIC is now seeking feedback from residents, visitors, and businesses on how the space could best serve the community in the years ahead.
The survey takes around five minutes to complete and can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the flyer or by clicking the survey link available online through CIIC’s website and social media pages. Participants also have the option to enter a draw to win Vodafone vouchers, with prize winners to be announced in December. Competition rules are outlined in the survey.
CIIC Chief Executive Officer Allan Jensen said the survey was an important first step in shaping the next phase of the Avarua Wharf redevelopment.
“We want to ensure that any future development reflects community aspirations and enhances this much-loved waterfront area. This survey allows everyone to share their thoughts and ideas before we move into formal redevelopment planning.”
As part of ongoing progress, improvement works on the former Raro Fried Chicken building will begin in November to ensure the site is safe and ready for future use.
The survey follows earlier announcements confirming CIIC’s plans to revitalise the wharf area through a staged approach, beginning with community engagement before progressing to design and development phases.
